Andy Muscat is a New-Wave Indie/Soul Singer-Songwriter, who has successfully been pioneering a revolutionary sound within the Indie music scene. Playing many prestigious venues including The Portsmouth Guildhall at the early age of 16.
Andy began performing and writing music at the age of 13, playing in local pubs and clubs around Portsmouth. After just 3 years of building his repertoire and experience, Andy performed at the incredible Portsmouth Guildhall. Over the next 4 years, Andy focused on his songwriting and began to make a name for himself by performing at small venues and on local radio stations within the South Coast.
Andy has been focusing on writing and promoting himself, which payed off in early 2012 when one of his tracks 'The Sea' entered the UK Unsigned Chart. It then went to Number 1, where it stayed for 6 weeks, and in total stayed in the Top 40 for 11 weeks. After deciding to take his music down a more Soulful Indie route, Andy recruited himself a band, which included Michael Woolridge (an incredible bassist, with great experience in live performance with several bands) and Pete Brazier (an amazing drummer, who Andy had previous experience working with in another band, The Hype). This added a new element to the live experience, creating a new sound that get the crowd going, whilst keeping the original sentiment behind the songs.Their first gig together was at London's infamous 100 Club in September '12, where they stepped offstage after a great gig and were told a second track, 'Benefit', had also gone to Number 1 in the UK Unsigned Chart (and it also stayed in the Top 40, this time for 12 weeks). They currently split their live shows between Portsmouth and London, building a strong fan base and performing in both cities on a monthly basis.
Receiving great reviews (including Absolute Radio and Listed Magazine), getting a great reaction from their debut EP '5,4,3,2,1' (available on Itunes, Amazon, Spotify etc...) and with some BIG gigs on the cards, the prospects are looking bright. Stay tuned!
